Fashion Fights Poverty at Relaxed Day Spa and Tanning

Tonight's Fashion Fights Poverty fundraiser in Foggy Bottom invited guests were treated with complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres....and most importantly complimentary manicures, mini-massages and facials! The beautiful people at Relaxed Day Spa/Tanning provided luxuriously rejuvenating treatments to guests in a posh and private atmosphere.

The event debuted FFP's array of upcoming programs for 2009 including a "Project Runway"-like design competition for high school level fashion students in the city. The biggest news was the announcement of FFP's much anticipated annual Fashion Show on Sept 25 2009 at the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel in Washington DC. For tickets and more details for the red carpet event go to FFP's website.

Also don't forget to check out Kris Hart's Relaxed Day Spa/Tanning (202) 785-0006 at 2112 F Street NW just a few blocks from GW where they also offer waxing, pedicures, and partial massages (dcrelaxed.com) Thanks everyone !

Gallery Place Chic

What a great and beautiful day in Washington. Finally the rain stopped and signs of warmer weather yet ahead were omnipresent such as people wearing loose clothing and comfortable accessories to remind us that the cooler weather still lingers. Two young women highlight this observation. The first one is wearing a rustic and earthly outfit with yellow palette draped across and topped by a super thin tribal inspired head ban. The cute cardigan acts as a perfect accessory to keep warm when the temps get cool on a spring night. Shirt dresses are everywhere these days and no doubt will see more of them. Which brings us to our second example who celebrates effortlessly chic with the t-shirt dress and an authentic print. The boots, hat, and bright pink mini cardigan rounds out this great outfit that screams out attention in such an audacious style.

Things That Go BOOM !

2001. Wall Street was'a flowin' with money. People still had jobs. And a particular Texan was just about to enter the White House. Fast forward to 2009 and....well you know how F$%# up everything is. But 2001 was also the last time remix genius Armand Van Helden came to DC and in that time span he has produced many hits such as "Professional Window", "U Don't Know Me" and my personal fav "Hear My Name". Last Friday, Van Helden brought his unique style of music to DC Star's EXPLOSION (2135 Queens Chapel Rd, NE). Likewise the partygoers also brought their unique style of fashion. One era dominated the scene here: 80s. Skinny and straight leg pants. Tights in various colors. Neon bright wayfarer sunglasses. The comeback of grunge fashion is pushing its way into the scene also.
